Workforce Team Challenge

FAQ

There is parking under the Empire State Plaza and in the East Lot immediately east of the Plaza. There is plenty of parking, but the traffic may be a little heavier than a normal workday so please remind your team members to leave a little extra time. Carpooling is also recommended to reduce the amount of traffic in downtown Albany.
We are sorry, but as the form you completed when you registered stated, we are not able to refund registration fees due to fixed expenses we incur when you register. Beginning approximately one week prior to the race, we do allow your team captain to transfer your entry to another member of your organization. Your team captain will be sent instructions on how to transfer a registration.
Actually it is quite costly to put on a race of this size. Some of our most substantial cost include t-shirts, post-race refreshments, water, police support, site rental, medical support, registration services, timing services, bibs, awards, advertising, rentals, banners and signs, etc. As you can see there is a lot that goes into a race such as this. Incidentally, the entire race committee, including the race director are all volunteers. We hope that with this understanding, you will chose to register along with others from your organization and will enjoy participating in the race.
A team of one is perfectly acceptable! To qualify for scoring and team awards, however, you will need a minimum of four participants (four females or four males, or two males and two females for a coed team).
No. A team is defined as ALL the persons from your company who are participating in the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge, so only one team and one team captain are allowed per organization. You may, however, submit an unlimited number of four-person teams (four females or four males, or two males and two females for a coed team) for scoring purposes.
We’re sorry, but this event is limited to employees of an organization or company. Family members are welcome to volunteer, though.
Unfortunately, no. To ensure the safety of race participants, neither baby strollers nor children younger than 16 years of age are allowed on the course.
Sorry, but no pets are allowed on the course. Only service dogs are permitted.
Yes. Team members must be at least 16 years of age on race day, as well as employees of the company/organization whose team they’re on.
Race t-shirts may be picked up by participants on the day of the race. They can be picked-up between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the T-shirt tent on the Empire State Plaza. Participants will need their bib to pick up their t-shirt. Team captains will be given t-shirts for virtual participants during packet pick-up to distribute.
Virtual participants may complete their runs between Saturday, May 14th and Sunday, May 22nd and then submit their times at the Registration Portal, which is linked in the confirmation email they received and will be emailed to them again race week. It can also be accessed here: https://www.zippyreg.com/online_reg/confirmation/. Times must be submitted by 8:00 p.m. on May 19th if they are to be counted in team scoring.
Due to the need to get permits months in advance and the extensive logistics to put on this event, the race cannot be postponed for rain. The race will go on through rain, wind or hot weather. Race officials will work closely with emergency officials from the Albany Police Department, Albany Fire Department and the NYS State Police in the case of potentially dangerous weather events such as extreme thunderstorms. In extreme conditions, the start could be delayed by a few minutes but otherwise the race would likely be cancelled.
The times of virtual participants will be included in the results posted on the CDPHP WTC website, but they will not be included in team scoring results for team awards.
Yes, we encourage teams to gather pre-race and take team pictures. HMRRC will also have photographers on site taking team pictures, but with 400 to 500 teams our photographers won’t be able to capture all teams. We do ask that all team pictures are completed by 5:45 p.m. so participants can begin moving to the starting line.
